Based on an incredible true story, Mr Burton follows the journey of Richard Jenkins, a poor miner’s son from Port Talbot, Wales, who rose to become one of the world’s greatest actors - the Oscar-nominated Richard Burton. 

In 1942, Richard, struggles with family pressures, the chaos of war, and his own dreams. But everything changes when his natural talent for drama is discovered by his teacher, Philip Burton (played by the brilliant Toby Jones) who takes him under his wing.

With guidance from both Philip and the wise Ma Smith (Lesley Manville), Richard begins to thrive. However, as he gets closer to achieving his dreams, the shadows of his past threaten to hold him back.
